Day 3 (Later) Panama & Carribean Cruise

Day 3 (later)

Our first formal night of this cruise was great; everyone takes dressing up so seriously on this ship – you’d think that some of them were actually used to dressing for dinner. Every time I don my tuxedo I can’t help playing the James Bond theme in my head; all I need is a Walther PPK and I’d be set! Some will have to explain the concept of cufflinks to me, I just don’t get it – mankind goes to all the trouble of inventing the button hole and button, and we use them on every other kind of shirt; but when it come to a tux shirt – oh no, we have to go back a couple of hundred years.

We were first in to the dining room just as the string quartet started up. The Britannia dining room is incredible; large columns create a sweeping high ceiling entry way. Wood paneling is everywhere and the tables are located on the ground floor as well as a tiered balcony that surrounds the entry way. Our table (number 220) is located on the top of the balcony with a view over the whole dining room. The food was better tonight, though I’m not sure how many times I can take steak and lobster – yes this cruising is tough.

After dinner we had drinks and then took in the show which was a singing and dancing tribute to all things Italian; it was very well executed and got a standing ovation in some parts of the crowd – the ballet quotient was a bit high for my taste.

After the show we decide to get a light snack instead of going to the black and white ball; we both felt really knackered and we have to build up our strength for a hard day at the Spa tomorrow.
